My dear fellow doctors, colleagues, partners and friends of AFES, welcome! Once again, we're called together to share knowledge and information in endocrinology & diabetes. With that, we aim to become game-changers in innovation and lead the way together. The manner by which this can be achieved is by connecting, communicating and sharing. Networking is vital in our pursuit of excellence in these fields. Let's all join hands in this important congress and blaze the trail for a better ASEAN link. Thank you for joining us and may your participation be productive and enlightening.

Welcome to the 20th ASEAN Congress of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES)!

This is the 4th time that the Philippines will be hosting the AFES in Manila, Philippines. Our country is currently the 3rd largest English speaking country globally with a rich history on top of its Austronesian roots, mixed with Spanish, Chinese and American influences. Filipinos are a freedom, fun-loving and hospitable people. Fiestas are celebrated frequently, and foreign guests are always welcome to celebrate all over the country.

The Philippine Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (PSEDM) is working on a scientific programme that intends to empower healthcare professionals with knowledge and updates in the field of endocrinology. We have invited international, regional and local experts, who will generously share breakthroughs in research, as well as insights based on their vast understanding and experiences in the diagnosis and management of different hormonal abnormalities.

We are looking forward to sharing an exciting congress with you. Delight in learning with us as you revel in the beauty of the Philippines and relish the warmth that the Filipinos will offer. Enjoy Manila, Philippines!

Mabuhay and Welcome to the Philippines!

It is an honor for us to host the 20th ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) in the historic city of Manila, Philippines. This year’s theme focuses on the region’s key Endocrine Problems: Diabetes, Obesity and Thyroid Disease. LINKED: Leading in Innovation, Networking, and Knowledge in Endocrinology and Diabetes is timely and appropriate. The scientific program aims to present data available from our region. Beyond statistics we evaluate various initiatives from the members countries that we can adopt.

We believe that this meeting will be globally significant because of ASEAN migration. As our boundaries get blurred we struggle to define our own identity. Together we hope we can forge solutions to our common dilemmas as we collectively understand our individual strengths and weaknesses. We reflect on the beginnings of AFES as we attempt to provide a truly ASEAN solution to our problems in Endocrinology.

We have prepared a wonderful social and cultural program which you will enjoy. We encourage you to explore Manila and surrounding areas and experience the hospitality of our country. Hope to see you all soon.
